How we work
The work of the Collective Against Dengue (CAD) is operationalized through three working groups that together drive meaningful change:
Urbanization
Embedding dengue prevention and climate-health planning in the design of rapidly expanding cities.
Rapid urban growth, poor waste management, and limited water infrastructure create ideal breeding grounds for the Aedes aegypti mosquito — the main carrier of dengue. With over half the world’s population living in cities, urbanization is a critical driver of dengue transmission.
Our priorities:
- Standardize and package evidence-based interventions that cities can use
- Embed equity-first design– targeting the communities where data show higher dengue burden and service gaps
- Provide city-level decision support system
Urban health is public health. By rethinking our cities, we reduce the risk of dengue for millions.
Innovation
Integrating fragmented tools into scalable, climate-smart solutions.
Dengue is complex — its symptoms are often mistaken for malaria or other febrile illnesses. Though tools exist, without stronger connections across the pipeline, dengue innovations risk remaining pilots rather than becoming scalable, climate-resilient solutions.
Our priorities:
- Consolidating fragmented evidence across domains
- Packaging innovation into adaptable templates
- Facilitating cross-sectoral linkages
- Catalyzing knowledge transfer and partnerships
Innovation bridges the gap between today’s challenges and tomorrow’s breakthroughs.
Financing
Mobilizing sustainable investment and unlocking new financing pathways by positioning dengue as a climate-health priority.
Without financing, even the best plans and innovations remain on paper. Many dengue-endemic countries struggle with limited health budgets and competing priorities. We need new models of investment that channel resources where they have the greatest impact.
Our priorities:
- Convene cross-stakeholders at the nexus of climate and health
- Mobilize international donors, governments, and private sector partners.
- Expand the tools and knowledge for municipal and regional decision makers
- Ensure equity in funding allocation, so vulnerable communities are not left behind.
- Serve as a bridge between evidence, partners, and capital
Financing turns vision into action. Without it, the fight against dengue cannot be won.
Your Voice Matters
Working groups are a way for our members to drive collective action and collaboration. Together, these working groups turn fragmented efforts into climate-smart, investment ready solutions.
