Our Journey
The Collective Against Dengue (CAD) began as a conversation and has grown into a global platform for action. Here’s how our journey has unfolded:
2023 - First Gathering at COP28, Dubai
- Health, climate, and development leaders met to discuss the rising dengue epidemic.
- Consensus emerged that dengue cannot be solved by medicine alone — it requires collaboration across urban planning, innovation, and financing.
- The idea of forming a Collective Against Dengue (CAD) was born.

2024 - Building the Collective
- Regular online and in-person discussions brought together researchers, policymakers, innovators, and advocates.
- Drafting of the CAD Charter began, laying out guiding principles of equity, collaboration, and accountability.
- A newsletter was launched to capture ongoing insights and share them with a wider community.
- Momentum grew with new members joining from across regions and sectors.
- Camber Collective and the Pasteur Network selected to serve as the CAD secretariat.

2025 - Preparing for Launch
- The Steering Committee refined the Three Working Groups: Urbanization, Innovation, and Financing with climate underpinning all 3.
- CAD members engaged in strategy sessions on how to mobilize financing and scale innovation in dengue-endemic regions.
- The Collective finalized plans for its official launch at the World Health Summit in Berlin (October 2025).

Beyond 2025 - The Road Ahead
- CAD will continue expanding its network of members and partners.
- A focus on action-driven projects: from supporting policy dialogues, to accelerating diagnostics, and building sustainable financing models.
- Our vision: contribute to the global goal of Zero Dengue Deaths by 2030.
